“A newfound talent” (The Observer), Poppy Shotts graduated with Distinction from the Royal College of Music in London where she studied with Alison Wells and Caroline Dowdle as a Derek Butler Scholar, previously completing a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. 

Opera credits include Procris Céphale et Procris (Ensemble Orquesta UK premiere 2023) Drusilla L’incoronazione di Poppea (2022 Grimeborn Festival Ensemble OrQuesta) Fiordiligi Così fan tutte (St. Bartholemew’s Chamber Orchestra), L’amour, Zaïde Les Indes Galantes (Ensemble OrQuesta), Oberto Alcina (Ensemble OrQuesta), Madame Goldentrill The Impresario (Pulp Rocket Theatre), Barbarina, Le Nozze di Figaro (RCM Opera School), Susanna The Marriage of Figaro (Matchbox Opera), Dew Fairy Hansel and Gretel (St. Magnus Festival), Erste Dame Die Zauberflöte (2018), and Abigail Williams The Crucible (2019) with Berlin Opera Academy. Poppy joined the chorus of Scottish Opera in 2020, and has since performed in productions of Don Giovanni (2022) and Falstaff (2021) and Carmen (2023). Upcoming performances also include the revival of the 2022 production of L’Incoronazione di Poppea with Ensemble OrQuesta this autumn, where she will perform the role of Drusilla.

Poppy is the Founder and Director of Showcase Creative Studio, a COVID project that was born from a vision to represent character and authenticity in classical music, placing the autonomy of that representation into the hands of the artists themselves. The studio now showcases over 250 classical artists and organisations online. Recent notable projects include the new website design for The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, EMPOWER Women Changing Music, collaborating with Audition Oracle for a website award, and collaborating with artists across the spectrum of music. Poppy is also a trustee for Song in the City.
